Want to be active? Not a problem in the adventure land Werra-Meißner!

Attractive biking trails offer a wide variety of scenic routes (there are for instance suggestions drawn up for tours of a distance from 7 to 95 km). Even athletes can really let off steam. The Mountain Bike Park Werra Valley has a network of 20 GPS-guided trails of varying difficulty. For the racing cyclist there are 7 routes on quiet roads and with the StoppOmat at the Hohe Meißner, we have the most demanding of the six presently existing permanent time trial routes in Germany. Walking is another means of exploring the area very successfully. Especially inviting is the Hohe Meißner, shrouded in legend, it is the local mountain of Frau Holle in the natural park Meissner-Kaufungen forest. Well marked paths and classified premium trails, which are amongst the finest in Hessen, open up the most attractive destinations in the natural park, geological features, marvellous locations and breathtaking views. Tours run for example across the fabulous Hohe Meißner and the Meißner foreland to the best viewpoints of the Hessian Switzerland or as a panorama trail across the “Leuchtberge” and the “Blaue Kuppe” (blue dome).

The only German manufacturer of chewing tobacco, at the same time an active museum open for visitors, is in Witzenhausen. Guided tours for groups, either mornings or afternoons, during the week or on weekends, can be arranged flexibly and at very short notice.
